HIMKI Hopes Furniture Companies to Promote Export – MIGE office furniture

Jakarta, 13 October 2016 – Furniture and handicraft industry players in guangzhou office furniture manufacturer Indonesia are expected to constantly innovating to produce quality products. This is to further increase the value of their products, both for domestic and export markets. This is emphasized by the Vice Chairman for Promotion & Marketing of The Indonesia Furniture Industry and Craft Association (HIMKI), Bernardus Arwin. He said the export market for Indonesian furniture and craft products is huge. He added that Indonesia has an ample cultural uniqueness that can be absorbed and used as inspiration for innovation in the furniture and craft industry.

On a global scale, Indonesian export value is lagging behind other Negotiation Desk countries. Within the past five years, Indonesian furniture export market value remains around US$2 billion per year. On the other hand, the value of global furniture market in 2015 reached US$241 billion. China remains as world’s largest furniture exporter with export value reaching US$ 98.7 billion.

“Our export value today is far behind that of other countries. We are not even included in the top 10 furniture exporting countries in the world. In Asia, we are still behind Malaysia and Vietnam. Vietnam is actually a new comer in the industry and 10 years ago their export value was only US$20 million. But today, they managed to sit on the 7th place with an export value reaching US$7.6 billion,” said Bernardus Arwin at JIExpo, Thursday (13/10). Therefore, he really hoped Indonesian furniture industry players can continue to increase their production with quality products reception desk that have international standards, including in terms of product certification.

To further familiarize Indonesian products to the global export market, HIMKI will organize the largest B2B (business to business) furniture and craft exhibition in Indonesia and in the region, the Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX). As in previous years, IFEX 2017 will be held at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo), Kemayoran, Jakarta. The event is scheduled to take place on 11 – 14 March 2017 and themed, “The Essence of Infinite Innovation”.
