Overview

This project covers the phased renovation of Genetec’s headquarters in Technoparc, Montreal, Canada, with a renovated area of 2,323 m². As a global security technology firm with over 600 local employees in Quebec, Genetec faced mismatches between its original workplace and the demands of its R&D teams.

Working with Meet&Co Design, the space delivers a human-centric agile workplace integrated with acoustic engineering, modular layout and warm natural materials, creating a modern ecosystem balancing dynamic collaboration and quiet focus for developers.

The Challenge

With rapid team expansion, conventional partition layouts lack flexibility and require heavy construction to adjust team sizes. Also, there is a conflict between developers’ need for quiet deep-work zones and readily available space for spontaneous teamwork.

The Solution

Fixed partitions are eliminated. Each hub seats 12 members and expands flexibly to 18–24. Private meeting rooms and quiet booths act as adjustable modules without major construction work.
Besides, the central volume wrapped with recycled PET felt panels, rubber flooring and acoustic ceilings creates layered acoustic conditions, and black archways shape a gradual transition from active collaborative zones to quiet work areas.

The Results

The project delivers an agile workplace system, allowing team restructuring without hard construction and greatly boosting spatial flexibility. And the comprehensive acoustic strategy balances noise control and casual communication.
