BNY Mellon’s 10,000 sqm Ireland Intuit transformed its 3,159 sqm San Francisco headquarters into an art-driven workplace. Blending local culture, flexible planning, and sustainable reuse, the office creates a welcoming destination that strengthens employee connection, fosters a sense of belonging, and inspires in-person collaboration.
The Challenge
As hybrid work reshaped employee expectations, Intuit needed an office that encouraged people to return. The space had to foster belonging, reflect Bay Area culture, support diverse workstyles, and minimize environmental impact through adaptive reuse.
The Solution
The design team curated 38 works by Bay Area artists within a circular floor plan organized into neighborhood zones. Bold yellow accents, layered materials, murals, interactive installations, and 90% retained building elements created an immersive, sustainable workplace experience.
The Results
The headquarters became a destination attracting employees from across the Bay Area. Art evolved beyond decoration into a tool for storytelling, community, and pride, while the flexible, people-centered design reinforced collaboration, creativity, and a stronger sense of belonging.
